Anu Valavaara is a Finnish artist working primarily with film, sound, and printmaking. She holds Master's degrees in Fine Art and Humanities from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. Her interdisciplinary practice combines experimental film, soundscapes, printmaking, and documentary to explore themes of time, memory, and identity. In her latest installation, Lost in Time, she focused on time and memory—core themes in her work. She has exhibited in Scotland and Scandinavia and was selected for the Royal Scottish Academy’s New Contemporaries exhibition in Edinburgh. Other recognitions include the Generator Projects Prize, the Wooosh Gallery Landscape Award, and participation in The Place of Memory and the Memory of Place conference in Oxford with her video A Cottage of Memories.
During Konstrundan, I will screen my film installation, and visitors can explore the art studio and home library. There is also a home music studio in the same space, which you’re welcome to take a peek at. Weather permitting, an outdoor audiovisual installation will be shown. Coffee and cake will be served.
