Information about the artist / the group

I am Meiju (Merja) Väisänen, a visual artist and film costume designer. People and their stories have always fascinated me both as a costume designer and a visual artist. The human figure, especially the female portrait, is also at the core of my visual art—not as a traditional portrait, but rather as a multifaceted subject of exploration. Currently, I am interested in multiculturalism, marriage, and the traditions and taboos associated with it from a female perspective. I primarily work with acrylic and watercolor techniques, and my works are characterized by bold, intense colors and unconventional compositions.

Program during Konstrundan

During Konstrundan, you can buy artwork, order artwork and also get to know other artists in my studio. At the same time, Meilahti Tilajakamo will also have open doors and visitors have the opportunity see works and studios of artists from different fields.
