Information about the artist / the group

Katinka van der Jagt works from her studio in Helsinki. She graduated from the Free Art School (Vapaa Taidekoulu) in 2024, a private art school focussed on painting. She seeks to create dialogue and involve the viewer by creating art that is approachable, and seeks to explore beyond the stretched canvas. An additional medium she is working with is sculptural textiles as paint, requiring tactile interaction, other materialities such as disposition and cultural training. Textile craft and construction is engrained in her heritage, going back several generations, tapping into her primordial emotions, deeply personal and rooted in her subconscious.

Program during Konstrundan

Open house at our studio, you are warmly invited to tour the studio and probe ongoing art processes. There is an opportunity to explore an ancient transfer technique that is still being used by many artists.
