Information about the artist / the group

Olga Prokhorova (born in Udmurtia, Russian Federation) is a performance artist based in Oulu and working internationally. In her art, she engages with place and works through the study of the body, movement and behavior, creating phenomena – alternative situations that people can follow and participate in. Olga explores how storytelling and mythological ways of thinking about ourselves and others affect our communication, how the body can offer new perspectives and access a personal story-world. How attention is diverted while other important things are happening at the same time, which are ignored. Prokhorova often presents her art on the streets among everyday life, in residential areas and in nature. Her works have been seen internationally in Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Russia and Mexico.
