Ceramics
I am a visual artist. My main material is ceramic. Depending on the subject, I experiment with different techniques to gain the results what I want.
I find the inspiration for my work from daily life and news items which have lodged themselves in my mind. Art for me is one way of taking part in social and political discussion.
The overarching theme of my practice is involving the elements of earth, air, blood, water and vegetation. The concept of elements arises from concern for ecology and ethics. All these elements share a common root. Inseparable from nature, they are intricately connected with and nourish each other. However, blood seems to me the one element that threatens the natural balance between the others.
Wellcome to my studio! Here I am in the surroundings for the birth of my works. Here I thrive to make appear in visual form the inspirations I have collected from versatile sources such as texts, daily news, nature experiences, exhibitions, concerts or conversations with people.
I offer you a cup of tea, a chair to sit down, to have a talk, to meet other visiters.
Step in and feel wellcome!
Turn from Ahlströminkatu at the traffic light to Satakunnankatu. Drive past The Varkaus museokeskus Konsti (the former school called Tehtaan koulu). At the next exit, turn right into the parking lot. Go through the access gate in the net fence directly to the front entrance. The studio is in the entrance lobby on the left. The Varkaus Entrepreneur's House (Varkauden yrittäjätalo) is a former Honeywell property.
