Information about the artist / the group

A classically trained painter,with a deep knowledge of traditional craftsmanship, working solely from life. Originally from Colorado, USA. I’m an alumnus and former instructor at The Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, and its sister school in Gothenburg, Sweden.
I work primarily in oils and diverse drawing mediums, lately specializing in drawing materials I produce myself from nature, such as charcoal, bone ash, clay pigments, and callogen binders, and working on plant fiber papers I make from local plants.
As an immigrant, weaving myself into the local area along with its people through my artistic practice is a driving force in my work. I am fascinated by the way simple pigments on paper, wood or cloth have the potential to break and heal human hearts.
