Information about the artist / the group

I am Milja Hakkarainen, a Master of Arts in Fine Arts. I work with sculpture, painting techniques, as well as moving images and sound. The starting point of my works is often symbols and signs from cultural and prehistory, along with references to subcultures. Observing nature's forms, soundscapes, scents, colors, and actions guides my creative process. I combine different techniques and utilize recycled and natural materials. I am interested in the connection between humans and nature—how it has evolved over millennia and whether art can strengthen this bond with nature.

Program during Konstrundan

Welcome to a quirky frontman's house, also affectionately known as Villa Villekulla, located in a peaceful neighborhood in East Pakila! The house is home to visual artist Milja, her partner, and their 1-year-old child. During the visit, you’ll get to explore the artist’s daily life and creative process, and also see completed artworks. The space features a display of tools and materials used in her artistic work.
