Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Spatial art, Visual arts, Wood
I am a visual artist (BFA) from Turku Art Academy in spring 2025, creating sculptures, drawings, and paintings. In addition to Turku, I have studied painting at the Free Art School and Art School Maa in Helsinki. In my drawings, I focus on landscapes in my hometown Turku and other places I have visited. I draw with colored pencils and pastels. I am interested in wood as a material, so I use wood in my sculptures. My style is minimalist. I have studied Japanese minimalism and the traditional Japanese wood treatment method yakisugi. I also create sculptures that combine wood and traditional weaving techniques. A connection to nature is important to me, so I explore the relationship between humans and their environment in my works. I also use natural materials in my sculptures.
I will be showcasing my landscape drawings, which are also available for purchase. I can provide a demonstration of how I do traditional weaving, which I incorporate into my wooden sculptures. I am also working on a large wall installation, where I am drawing a study of the structure, grain, and growth rings of wood on Japanese paper. Visitors can observe my work in progress. Coffee and tea will be available.
The entrance door is located on the right side of the building in the inner courtyard (not at the end where the Mojo Training gym door is). The office is located on the second floor, so walk up the stairs.
