The main themes of Aino Keinänen's art are equality and nature, which she strives to nurture by exploring the different dimensions of humanity: Animality, gender diversity, untouchability, land ownership, war, history, religion, culture, community, love, the chain of generations and survival have been the starting points of the projects. A surreal level is hidden in the realistic depiction of people: People are made of natural materials. The destruction of nature created by man is symbolized by a geometric pattern that eats up the earth and leaves behind the white emptiness of the paper. Nature in a person represents hope: From the inside of a stone or wooden person, all sensitivities emerge, e.g. in the form of algae, moss, flowers, fruit, insects, reptiles, resin and lava.
Ateljee Aapeli can be accessed from the Tallberginkatu side through the portico, the outdoor courtyard and D-stairs to the basement floor. From the Kaapeliaukio side, you can go to the E-staircase through Lasipiha and from there to the basement floor. If, on the other hand, you enter from the side of Tammasaarenkatu through the door of the loading dock and walk straight ahead from there, you can reach the E-stair and take the elevator to the basement floor.
