Information about the artist / the group

I am Maire Ruotsalainen, a watercolor artist from Vaasa. I completed my art education at the Open School at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki from 1989 to 1991 and have participated in numerous domestic and international art courses in Sweden, Denmark and France. I have worked in the field for almost 40 years and have been a professional artist for the last 25 years. My watercolor technique is based on the "wet-on-wet" technique. My works reflect the beauty of nature and women.

Program during Konstrundan

The Theme of the days is "The Magic of the Forest". At events, I present watercolors "how I paint" and talk extensively about my sources of inspiration and working methods. I also talk about my artistic achievements and present my recent works. Through these events, I increase and deepen the awareness of watercolor art to the public in Vaasa and throughout the region.

Driving directions

The entrance to the studio is Rantalinna at the north end of the building (Vaasanpuistiko side end)
My studio is located on the second floor, there is no elevator in the building.
