Since I was a little girl, I have been a craftsman. I am always interested in new materials and working methods. Traditional crafts are close to my heart. It is important to preserve old ways of working, because that is when we can learn and develop new things.
Letters, colours and paper have become my favourite subjects. Even as a little girl, I used to draw letters from old books in my notebooks. At that time, I didn't know anything about calligraphy and where letters would take me in life. Having studied calligraphy until my graduation from AMK and having taught for 25 years, I know that I am not the only one interested in letters. Colours are the light of life, you can create anything with them, watercolours, collage, print and calligraphy. There is enough work in these for a lifetime.

Program during Konstrundan

At Teija Tekemää, guests can explore my art, including my abstract paintings, collages, cards, prints and calligraphy. There is also a small shop in my studio where you can shop. During Konstrudan, I will give demonstrations of gelli printing and, weather permitting, I will show what a cyanotype is.

From the north shore, turn onto Pumpulikatu, you will reach the car park, my office is on the right, the building says Porin paahtimo.
On the outer wall of my office there is a sign for Teijan Tekemää.
