Connecting traditional handwork with modern aesthetics, studio NOON focuses on creating durable, timeless and unique objects. Each piece is handmade in the studio located in Helsinki. Thoughtful craftsmanship establishes a bond between the object and the person using it. Made from natural materials, the objects create a gentle connection with nature.
Each project begins with careful selection of the materials that are sourced in local recycling centres as well as from family owned companies around Europe.
Antique handspun and handwoven linen fabrics are collected from the founder's home country Slovakia. Linen and cotton textiles are inherited from her family, dating back to the early 20th century.
During Konstrundan there will be a frame loom weaving workshop organized in the NOON studio. During the workshop you will learn how to weave your own textile piece from natural yarns using simple plain weave technique. The participants will have a chance to weave own pair of cup coasters. All the materials will be provided along with small refreshments. No previous skills are needed, the aim of the workshop is to bring joy of working with own hands and creating something nice and functional.
