Minja Kolehmainen is Finland’s only nomadic artist and cabinetmaker. She carves wooden sculptures and installations for public and private spaces. In her works, the surface of the wood tells a story of the peace, hope, and comfort that nature brings. Most of her works are tactile, as this allows the viewer to pause in the moment and feel both the carved energy and the grounding power of the wood itself.
For over 4 years, she has lived a minimalist nomadic lifestyle, residing in a small campervan named Minja & Mobile Workshop, fully dedicating herself to her art. In the summer of 2025, from May 1st to September 30th, she will bring her work to Fiskars Village, creating a space that serves as both a gallery and her studio. Additionally, she will host empowering carving workshops. Welcome.
During the event, you will have a unique opportunity to meet the artist Minja Kolehmainen, admire her works, and get a glimpse into her inspiring workspace. You might even catch Minja in action, carving beautiful sculptures with her hands!
Her artworks will be available for purchase on-site. Additionally, there is a one-of-a-kind chance for small groups (max. 4 people) to participate in a paid sculpture workshop – reservations required in advance.
Minja K's wood Gallery and workshop is located in the "basement" of Restaurant Kuparipaja, at the "backyard" of the building. You can reach it by walking past the restaurant's terrace, crossing the river, and going down the stairs. Another route is to come from the Paja Aukio side to the Kuparipaja "basement". The place is a bit hidden, but you can also ask the locals for directions. :)
