KONSRUNDAN BROKE RECORDS AGAIN THIS YEAR!

13.10.2023 hrs 14:39
The first weekend of September marked the 16th edition of Konstrundan. Nearly 350 artists, craftspeople, and designers from all over Finland opened their doors to the public. They offered visitors stories about their art, their work, workshops, and last but not least great and engaging discussions.

In total, the Konstrundan artists were visited by over 31,500 curious art enthusiasts, which is another record. "The fact that we had fewer participants but more visitors this year once again indicates the burning need for an event of this kind, where direct contact with art and its practitioners can inspire two-fold." says project manager Frida Gullichsen.

All participants are presented on the Konstrundan website with their individual profile and can of course be contacted for visits and purchases even outside of the Konstrundan weekend.

According to the overall feedback, the participants appreciate Konstrundan and are grateful for all the visitors who support the creative field. The feedback we received from the participants shows that the encounters and discussions with the visitors are highly appreciated. "The contact with other people, who you otherwise never meet, and the opportunity to talk about art." said one of this year's participants about what the Konstrundan makes possible.

The most important thing is not always buying something, just showing interest in the artists' work. However, over 75% of our participants report that they sold work during the Konstrundan weekend.

All feedback from participants is taken into account in the planning of future Konstrundans.
Next year’s Konstrundan will be held on 7-8 September 2024 and we hope to attract many new participants. The application period is 15.1-25.2.2024.

Art Friday 1 September 2023
On the Friday before Konstrundan, we published a film aimed at all children of primary school age. In the film, artist Maikku Huovila talks about herself and her work. She then gives the children an educational task that they can do at school or at home. This year's assignment is called "A Good Place" and involves everyone having an image of a place that is important or significant or an image of a refuge in difficult times. Huovila guides everyone to paint and draw their way to this place. With the help of the film, children can complete the task themselves, with teachers and parents help in gathering the necessary materials. The film along with the assignment instructions are available on our website - Art Friday.

The film is available in Swedish, Finnish, and English and is subtitled in all three languages. The film is produced by Filmbutik.

Feel free to share your creations with us via social media. Tag @konstrundan in the posts and feel free to use the hashtags.

We also offered group visits for schools and organizations by 150 Konstrundan participants. In total, about 50 groups, or around 600 people, visited artists on Art Friday.
