Art Friday will take place on 6 November 2026. Once again, the event will present a short video introducing an art-related assignment for children.
Art Friday has been organised since 2012 and has grown into a valued and awaited part of the school year. The free, art-based event has many positive effects: it supports children’s well-being, imagination, and self-esteem, while ensuring equal access to art regardless of background.
The event is made possible with support from, among others, Stiftelsen Brita Maria Renlunds minne sr.
Art Friday is an invaluable platform that inspires
the next generation to explore art and creativity.
The featured artist for Art Friday 2026 is Marjo Pitko (Master of Fine Arts). She works as a fine art printmaker and visual arts educator in Meri-Lappi, and her work combines themes such as the sea, the river, and the rhythm of northern nature. Her artistic expression emerges through an interplay of drawing, painting, and photography, printmaking tying these elements into a cohesive whole. Alongside her artistic practice, she inspires people of all ages to engage with visual art.
In this year’s Art Friday activity, participants are invited to explore the world of printmaking in a playful and experimental way. The process draws inspiration from both summer memories and traces in the nature, which are then transformed into personal artworks.
